Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, March 27: Massive investments worth thousands of crores are currently flowing into the Marathwada region, creating significant employment opportunities for local youth. In the next five years, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar will be recognized globally as an EV hub, stated Minister for Other Backward Bahujan Welfare Shri. Atul Save.

The inauguration of the two-day National Round Table Conference, organized at MGM University with the objective of preparing a comprehensive vision document for the holistic development of Marathwada—based on its historical background, geographical challenges, and socio-political realities—was held at the Rukmini Auditorium in the presence of distinguished guests. Minister Atul Save interacted with the participants during the session.

The conference, themed “Reimagining the Future of Marathwada,” is jointly organized by the Institute of Social Sciences and the College of Communication, Culture and Media of MGM University, in collaboration with the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies.

The event was graced by senior journalist P. Sainath, Deputy Editor of The Hindu Business Line Dr. Radheshyam Jadhav, Vice-Chancellor Prof.Dr. Vilas Sapkal, Registrar Dr. Ashish Gadekar, economist Prof. H. M. Desarda, Dean Dr. John Chelladurai, Director Dr. Ramesh Jare, Director Dr. K. P. Singh, Dr. H. N. Sonkamble, along with professors, students, and other dignitaries.

Further elaborating, Minister Shri. Atul Save stated that efforts are being made through the Water Grid Project to address drinking water and irrigation issues faced by farmers in rural areas. He also mentioned that the state’s non-conventional energy department, which he oversees, has installed 45,000 solar pumps under the Kusum Scheme in January alone—an achievement recorded in the Guinness Book of Records. Across Maharashtra, 7.5 lakh solar pumps have been installed, of which 1.8 lakh are in Marathwada.

He added that the Samruddhi Expressway is benefiting entrepreneurs and farmers in the region. He assured that the key suggestions emerging from the two-day conference discussions would be presented before the government for further action.

Speaking on “Climate Change in Marathwada,” senior journalist P. Sainath emphasized that climate change is a socio-economic issue and fundamentally a matter of inequality and justice. He pointed out that around 24 alcohol companies in and around the region have been receiving water at a highly subsidized rate of 1 paisa per litre for the past 40 years. Despite protests, articles, and court cases, the rate was increased only to 5 paise per litre. In contrast, people in the region often have to pay between 25 paise to ₹1 per litre for water during peak summer months, highlighting a deep injustice.

Dr. Radheshyam Jadhav noted that the definitions and parameters of development are often framed through a patriarchal lens. He stressed that unless systemic transformation and social restructuring are addressed, discussions on justice would remain ineffective and exploitative structures would persist.

Vice-Chancellor Prof.Dr. Vilas Sapkal stated that the core responsibility of a university is the creation of knowledge, and such conferences play a vital role in achieving that goal. He highlighted that infrastructure, drought mitigation, and connectivity are crucial for regional development. Emphasizing the concept of “Waste from Wealth,” he encouraged students to contribute to regional development and participate in finding solutions to local challenges through such forums.

The programme began with an introductory address by Dr. H. N. Sonkamble. The event was anchored by Dr. Varsha Dandge, while the vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. K. P. Singh.

राष्ट्रीय गोलमेज परिषदेचे मान्यवरांच्या प्रमुख उपस्थितीत उद्घाटन संपन्न

छत्रपती संभाजीनगर, दि. २७ : आज मराठवाड्यात हजारो कोटींची गुंतवणूक होत असून या माध्यमातून या भागातील तरुणांना मोठ्या प्रमाणात नोकरीच्या संधी उपलब्ध होत आहेत. पुढच्या पाच वर्षात छत्रपती संभाजीनगर हे जगभरात ईव्ही हब म्हणून ओळखले जाईल, असे प्रतिपादन राज्याचे इतर मागास बहुजन कल्याण मंत्री अतुल सावे यांनी केले.

मराठवाडा विभागाची ऐतिहासिक पार्श्वभूमी, भौगोलिक आव्हाने आणि सामाजिक-राजकीय वास्तवाचा सखोल अभ्यास करून या प्रदेशाच्या सर्वांगीण विकासासाठी एक व्यापक ‘व्हिजन डॉक्युमेंट’ तयार करण्याच्या उद्देशाने महात्मा गांधी मिशन विद्यापीठात आयोजित करण्यात आलेल्या दोन दिवसीय राष्ट्रीय गोलमेज परिषदेचे उद्घाटन सकाळी रुक्मिणी सभागृह येथे मान्यवरांच्या प्रमुख उपस्थितीत संपन्न झाले. यावेळी, राज्याचे इतर मागास बहुजन कल्याण मंत्री अतुल सावे यांनी उपस्थितांशी संवाद साधला.

‘मराठवाड्याच्या भविष्याची पुनर्कल्पना’ हा या परिषदेचा मुख्य विषय असून एमजीएम विद्यापीठाच्या इन्स्टिट्यूट ऑफ सोशल सायन्सेस आणि कॉलेज ऑफ कम्युनिकेशन, कल्चर अँड मीडिया यांच्या संयुक्त विद्यमाने, फॅकल्टी ऑफ इंटरडिसिप्लिनरी स्टडीजच्या सहकार्याने ही परिषद आयोजित करण्यात आली आहे.

यावेळी ज्येष्ठ पत्रकार पी.साईनाथ, द हिंदू बिझनेस लाईनचे उपसंपादक डॉ.राधेश्याम जाधव, कुलगुरू प्रा.डॉ.विलास सपकाळ, कुलसचिव डॉ.आशिष गाडेकर, अर्थतज्ञ प्रा.एच.एम. देसरडा, अधिष्ठाता डॉ.जॉन चेल्लादुराई, संचालक प्रा.डॉ.रमेश जारे, संचालक डॉ.के.पी.सिंग, डॉ.ह.नि.सोनकांबळे, प्राध्यापक, विद्यार्थी व सर्व संबंधित मान्यवर उपस्थित होते.

पुढे बोलताना मंत्री अतुल सावे म्हणाले, वॉटर ग्रिड प्रकल्पाच्या माध्यमातून ग्रामीण भागातील शेतकरी बांधवांचा पिण्याच्या आणि शेतीच्या पाण्याचा प्रश्नावर मात करण्याचा आम्ही प्रयत्न करीत आहोत. राज्याचे अपारंपारिक ऊर्जा खाते हेही माझ्याकडेच असून खात्याच्या माध्यमातून जानेवारी महिन्यात राज्यात कुसुम योजेनेतून ४५ हजार सोलार पंप इन्स्टॉल केले असून याची नोंद गिनीज बुक ऑफ रेकॉर्डमध्ये झालेली आहे. महाराष्ट्रात साडे सात लक्ष सोलार पंप बसवले असून यातील १ लाख ८० हजार सोलार पंप  हे फक्त मराठवाड्यात बसवले आहेत.

समृद्धी महामार्गाच्या माध्यमातून या भागातील उद्योजक आणि शेतकरी यांना फायदा होत आहे. या दोन दिवसीय परिषदेत महत्वाची चर्चा मान्यवर करणार आहेत. या चर्चेच्या माध्यमातून जे काही उपाय या भागाच्या सर्वांगीण विकासासाठी पुढे येतील ते सरकारच्या दरबारात मी ते ठेवेल, असा विश्वास मंत्री अतुल सावे यांनी व्यक्त केला.

यावेळी ‘क्लायमेट चेंज इन मराठवाडा’ या विषयवार बोलताना ज्येष्ठ पत्रकार पी.साईनाथ  म्हणाले, पर्यावरण बदल हा सोशिओ-इकॉनॉमिक इश्यू असून हा असमानतेचा विषय आहे. आणि हा माझ्यासाठी न्यायाचा विषय आहे. आज मराठवाड्यात आणि या जिल्ह्याच्या आजूबाजूला २४ अल्कोहोल कंपन्या आहेत. या कंपन्यांना गेल्या चाळीस वर्षापासून १ पैसा प्रति लीटर पाणी मिळत आहे. या अन्यायाबाबत लोकांनी आंदोलने केली, लेख लिहिले आणि लोकं कोर्टातही गेले. यावर न्यायालयाने यावर ताशेरे ओढत त्यांची रक्कम वाढविण्यास सांगितले आणि रक्कम वाढवून ५ पैसे प्रति लीटर पाणी असे दर केले गेले. एप्रिल – मे महिन्यात या भागातील लोकांना रस्त्यावर उभे राहून २५ पैसे ते १ रुपया प्रति लीटर पाणी विकत घ्यावे लागते. हा अन्याय असून यामध्ये कोणताही न्याय नाही.

आपल्याकडे विकासाच्या आणि प्रगतीच्या सगळ्या व्याख्या आणि परिमाण पुरुषसत्ताक पद्धतीतून सांगितले जातात. न्यायाचा प्रश्न जिथे येतो, तेंव्हा आपण व्यवस्था परिवर्तन आणि सामाजिक पुनर्रचना याला जोपर्यंत आपण हात घालत नाहीत तोपर्यंत केल्या जाणाऱ्या सर्व चर्चा निरर्थक ठरतात आणि शोषणाच्या संरचना या कायम राहणार असल्याचे द हिंदू बिझनेस लाईनचे उपसंपादक डॉ.राधेश्याम जाधव यांनी यावेळी सांगितले.

यावेळी बोलताना कुलगुरू प्रा. डॉ. विलास सपकाळ म्हणाले, ज्ञानाची निर्मिती करणे हे विद्यापीठाचे काम असून अशा परिषदामधून आपण हे काम करीत आहोत. पायाभूत सुविधा, दुष्काळ निवारण, दळणवळण हे कोणत्याही भागाच्या विकासात महत्वाचे भाग असतात. ‘वेस्ट फ्रॉम वेल्थ’ हे सूत्र बाळगत आपल्या भागाच्या विकासात विद्यार्थी आपले योगदान देतील. विशेषत: या भागातील समस्यांवर काय उपाय असतील यावरही आपण या गोलमेज परिषदेच्या माध्यमातून मंथन करणार आहोत.
