The Trust established its pioneering institute in the historical city of Aurangabad, home to the heritage sites of Ajanta & Ellora but lacking in premiere educational institutes. For more than four decades, Mahatma Gandhi Mission has blazed a trail of academic excellence and state-of-the-art health care services. A strong dynamic institution that keeps pace with the demands of the modern world, prominent locations and excellent education facilities makes MGM worthwhile and an exciting choice for education. This institution is devoted to extensively impart education and enable the students to stand on their own, strongly believing that “Literary education is of no value if it is not able to build up a sound character.”
With the vision for imparting quality education MGM initiated a chain of institutes with a spectrum ranging from primary schools to post graduate degrees. MGM has been instrumental in promoting Classical Dance & Music, Art, Culture, Heritage and creativity for art seekers. The Trust has also paid heed to the aspect of physical fitness by converting a vast expanse of land into an ultra-modern facility catering to a multitude of sports. The term Social Sciences covers a very broad area of human life, National Institutions, International Relations, International Organizations, Society, Social Groups, Social Institutions, Social Problems and their solutions. In reality, the disciplines in Social Sciences are originally Trans-disciplinary as no social phenomenon can be studied in isolation within the boundary of any single discipline. Conventionally the disciplines of Social Sciences are divided as Sociology, Economics, Education, Political Science, Psychology, History, Geography, Management, Commerce, Social Work, Journalism, Entrepreneurship, Public Policy, Governance and so on. However, at the higher level of education, the issues in Social Sciences are to be dealt with Trans-disciplinary approach and methodology. This fact is well recognised by MGM Institute of Social Sciences.

MGM INSTITUTE OF SOCIAL SCIENCES is established in the year 2020 with a vision to impart the quality education in the field of Social Sciences. The main focus of the programs, curricula, courses and syllabi would on sound theoretical basis with practical applications of the knowledge. The quality, acceptability, employability, creativity and innovation are the attributes to be assigned with each and every course of all the disciplines. Research and improvement would be obvious character of all the programs run under the Institute. The Institute has a vision to establish a world class Centre for Higher Education in all the disciplines of Social Sciences including Economics, Psychology, Behavioural Sciences, Sociology, Religion & Culture, Political Science, History, Geography, Entrepreneurship, Developmental Studies and so on.
The Institute has already established B.A. (Hons) programs in Economics and Psychology in the year 2020. The programs like M.A. Economics (Specialization in Entrepreneurship Research), M.A. Psychology, PG Diploma in Psychology (Counselling & Guidance), MGM Centre for Psychological Counselling are already approved for the year 2021-2022 and the admissions for all the said UG and PG programs are already started. The Institute has also announced the Ph. D. programs in Economics and Psychology and the process of registration has already been initiated by the Institute.
Proposed Programs
Under this Institute, the UG programs like B.A. in General Social Sciences with a focus on preparation for Civil Services & Other Competitive Examinations and B.A. in Entrepreneurship with focus on Entrepreneurship mindset, Social Entrepreneurship, Entrepreneurship of Informal Self Employment, Entrepreneurship in House & Cottage Industries, Rural Development, Environmental Entrepreneurship, Entrepreneurship in Tourism Development, Manufacturing Entrepreneurship, Services Entrepreneurship, Agricultural Entrepreneurship, Entrepreneurship in Agri-Marketing and so on.
The Institute also has planned to establish PG programs like M.A. Economics with Finance & Business Analytics, M.A. Sociology with Social Research, M.A. Sociology with Social Change & Development, M.A. Political Science with International Relations; M.A. Political Science with Public Policy & Governance, M.A. Social Research & Developmental Studies, M.A. Rural Development & Social Entrepreneurship and so on.
This Institute would be a well-equipped Centre for Research in all the areas of Social Sciences with a focus on regional problems and local solutions. The Ph. D. program, Fellowship arrangements, Research Chairs and Research Collaboration are going to happen from next year itself.
