On May 18th, the 'International Museum Day' is celebrated worldwide. In this context, MGM
University celebrated the day with great enthusiasm. The event, organized by the History and
Archaeology Department of MGM University, saw enthusiastic participation from students
across various departments. The students eagerly engaged in learning about history. They
were able to handle and study fossils that are millions of years old, weapons from the Stone
Age, various historical artifacts, terracotta toys, and statues from the department's collection.
Students from the Sociology department showed great interest and asked several insightful
questions. Additionally, the students toured the Annasaheb Takalghvankar Numismatic
Gallery, the only coin museum in the city, located on the university campus. They had the
opportunity to see coins dating from 2,600 years ago to the present day. The students were
amazed to see coins made of gold, silver, and copper that were thousands of years old. They
expressed a desire for more such events in the future. The students also engaged in
discussions after visiting the museum.
